Dining, Recreation & Attractions


Open Range Southwest Grill is a family-style restaurant on Bliss Creek Golf Course. Offering dine-in, take-out, a full bar, catering, on-site banquet events, and private parties. You can’t go wrong with any of their burgers.

Fireside Grille creates classic comfort food favorites. At the end of the day, few things entertain the taste buds like their baby back ribs or a delicious steak that’s been grilled to perfection. Beware, their portions are generous.

Calamity Jane’s Bar & Restaurant is family-owned and casual. Enjoy rustic decor, including high top tables handmade from local barn wood. The outdoor patio has also become a favorite spot for customers. Open for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.

Sugar Grove Cafe is the newest eatery in town but it’s quickly become a local favorite. Open for Breakfast and Lunch only.

Paisano’s Pizza & Grill, a long-time favorite, specializes in homemade and made-to-order cuisine. Don’t forget Rosati’s Pizza and Genoa Pizza. Make sure to get take out from King Wok 47. Fast Food eateries include; McDonald’s, Subway, Culver’s, Jimmy John’s, and Dunkin Donuts.


Bliss Creek Golf Club – Open to the public daily, it offers beautiful, tree-lined fairways, well-placed water hazards and a challenging 18 holes of golf that can most often be played in less than four hours. Truly one of the best golf values in the Chicagoland area.

The Virgil Gilman Trail is a paved bicycle trail connecting the City of Aurora to the east with Waubonsee Community College to the north.

Air Classic’s Aviation Museum – The museum’s collection includes aircraft, vehicles, uniforms and other aviation memorabilia from the 1930s to the present time.
Sugar Grove Family Fun Center – The Fun Center is an amusement park with 2 go-kart tracksminiature golf course, bumper boats, water wars, game room, lighted golf range & more. Ride their go-kart tracks in Chicago or compete on one of the Race Nights.

Students who live in Sugar Grove attend either Kaneland Community Unit School District #302 or West Aurora School District #129 depending upon the area in which you live.

In Kaneland, children who are in grades K-5 attend Kaneland John Shields Elementary School in Sugar Grove or Kaneland McDole Elementary School in Montgomery. For grades 6–8, they attend Kaneland Harter Middle School in Sugar Grove, while grades 9-12 are served by Kaneland High School in Maple Park.

Waubonsee Community College, a two-year public community college, is located on Route 47 in the northern part of Sugar Grove.

Northern Illinois University is 30 minutes west.


Sugar Grove is accessible by one interstate highway which is a tollway (Interstate 88), one US highway (US Route 30), and two state highways (Illinois Route 47 and Illinois Route 56). Route 56 connects the central part of Sugar Grove to I-88. US 30 utilizes the same pavement as Route 47 from the village’s southern border to the interchange with Route 56. US 30 then turns west. Route 47 runs north-south through the village. Aurora Municipal Airport is situated on the northwest side of town, capable of handling small jets. The BNSF Railway’s mainline from Chicago to Seattle runs through the village. The BNSF Metra hub is in Aurora making for an easy commute to Downtown Chicago.


A village in Kane County, and a far west suburb of Chicago. It is bordered to the east by the City of Aurora and to the west by the Village of Big Rock. Sugar Grove nearly encircles the unincorporated community of Prestbury. The City of Yorkville is to the south. Either in Sugar Grove or Big Rock Township. There is a total area of 10.485 square miles.
